#WEEK 6/ Analyst/ "Exploring Tasks with Digitals for Fostering Transversal Competencies."

Hi, I'm Cristina. In this sixth week, I play the role of the analyst.

As we have seen so far, we have been carrying out the task of the sixth week aimed at knowing and working with those key competences that have to be developed in Primary with the appropriate resources. Our mission has gone beyond what we have been in weeks, getting to "design" an activity. Of course, we started from some suggestions that the Taccle books gave us, so we were able to act quickly. However, we were able to see a great challenge that we could only finish in a few days.

Being able to get started with the activity, I remember that it was quite a complex meeting due to the number of options in the suggestion book. For this reason, I consider that it was the worst part of the activity: having to choose the activities with the competencies and that they follow a certain logic. But, thanks to the efforts of Charlotte, Bea, and Angela, a plan was moved forward. Likewise, we realized how difficult it was to reach an agreement due to how some of the suggestions were either difficult to put into practice or because we did not see any consistency between them and the competencies we were thinking of choosing.

The plan was the only thing that allowed us to organize ourselves better and begin to develop the activity. That part was the fastest of the process and I think the best, because elaborating it tested whether the activity was appropriate in our eyes. And the result was quite favorable, within what we expected. In that sense, it was thanks to the collaboration of each one and the good performance of her when carrying out the activity.

But, like I said, it would have come out with higher quality if we had more time to plan the tasks. Of course, some members were unable to attend and had to do most of the work asynchronously. Here a small lack of communication and group organization was demonstrated. In fact, some things were loose and many had to be in charge of filling in what was missing in the last minutes. Therefore, I think this was the worst moment of the week: being stressed out trying to finish the task. However, I think it was quite understandable that this happened as we were on the verge of final exams and each having other kinds of pending issues.

Although it suffered a lot, it was possible to move on, leaving a fairly good result within what was possible with the little time we had. The best moment of the week being the exposure of our stars, who were able to learn and explain everything in a shorter time. Although there were mistakes in our task, I believe that with their role they defended it very well.

But, in the end, not everything is perfect and there were some aspects that would have to be improved and that other knowledge from previous tasks could have been applied. For example, in the analysis of the activity, on the ethical problems we could have used the information that we extracted from the evaluation of the applications that we used and emphasized their privacy problems, among others. However, I consider that from one week to the next we cannot improve so much, because we are still newbies and with this situation, our learning is a little more autonomous without being able to have our teachers by our side always. For this reason, I believe that the only thing we can do is be more objective with our work, have a better organization among all the members and get up to date with the content related to the subject and then apply it in a better way to our projects.

Although not everything is bad, I consider that the method we follow for completing the task is very efficient, since we don’t come up with the best solutions when we are meeting and it is a way of not wasting time. But, I will say we lack some cooperation when it comes to revising all the tasks or whenever we need to finish something else in the last minutes, so for the next few weeks I should advise trying to connect more. But it’s not an important issue, because every member always completes their labour.

But, apart from the process, what the activity has meant for us has been more important. It is true that I have said that we are newbies, but I would be lying when saying that we have never seen an activity design. In most subjects, we have been asked at least to develop some of them and how to approach them. At the end of the day, it will be our main task as teachers to design activities so that students can work on the skills that their integral development as a person requires. Therefore, it has been of vital importance to show how we have progressed in these few months.

Apart from seeing our progress, this type of activity also makes us see the importance of knowing how to choose well the resources to use as a key element so that the student can show their performance and development. And even the need to explore more resources that are proliferating at this time to squeeze the maximum potential of the student. However, I consider that the existence of this type of activity has a certain relationship with the new educational trend of offering transversal activities that show more meaningful learning, where different types of tools are used to achieve the same objective.

I think this would be my relfection about the work of this week. I think I have left some points, but I considered these would be the most important.
